Abstract The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of acute hepatic toxicity on the pharmacokinetic parameters of theophylline rats.Twenty four male and female albino rats (150-220 m) were used. They were divided into 3 groups. The first group (6 rats) served as non-treated control, receiving normal saline intraperitonealy, blood sample was taken for assessment of liver functions. The second group 6 rats) were injected intraperitonealy with theophylline in a single dose of 10 mg/kg.The third group (12 rats) were injected intraperitonealy with single dose of(300mg/kg) D-galactosamine. Then, this group was subdivided into two equal subgroups. Subgroup A, rats were bled after 24 hours, blood sample was taken for assessment of liver functions, and their liver were taken for histopathological examination. In subgroup B, rats were re-injected intraperitonealy after 24 hours from D-galactosamine injection, with theophylline. |
