Abstract Chronic Liver disease has become one of the major health problems in our society. it has been attracting many concerns over the world. In Egypt, viral hepatitis along with Schistosoma mansoni are the major causes of chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis. In Egypt, infection with HCV has become the most important public health prob1em The liver is a major and important organ in thyroid hormone metabolism, therefore abnormalities of thyroid hormone metabolism are expected in subjects with liver disease. Some cases of thyroid disorders produce different manifestations of variable intensity affecting liver functions. The present study was conducted to evaluate the thyroid _ysfunction in patients with chronic liver disease. To achieve this goal, three groups were selected, group I, included 20 patients suffering from chronic viral hepatitis Liout cirrhotichanges, group 11, included 20 patients ring from liver cirrhosis and group Ill included 20 atients with hepatocellular carcinoma. 20 apparently healthy rols were selected. |
