Abstract
Fifty cases whose electrocardiograms had presented an abnormal p wave or prolonged p-r interval were studied in an attempt to correlate any of the p wave parameters with enlargement of the left or right atrium and to find any relation between both and the clinical manifestation and diadnosis the cases included in the study were thirty one males and nineteen femles the majority of the patients were in their second and third decades and the diagnosis of fifty four percent of the cases was rheumatic heart disease .
All the cases were studied on the basis of the clinical picture the x ray examination and the electrocardiographic examination .
