Abstract
Fifty patients of chronic renal failure on regular dialysis were selected from dialysis centers at Menoufyia University, and Sebin teaching hospital. Also twenty five healthy subjects with normal renal function were enrolled as a control group.
Every patient was subjected to the following:
-Complete history taking and full medical examination.
-Pre and post dialysis blood samples as well as dialysate fluid samples were obtained.
-Serum as well as dialysate aluminium was determined by atomic absorption spectrometer with furnace head.
-CBC and hematocrit and other biochemical parameters as urea creatinine, serum calcium, phosphorus, iron, ferritin, total iron binding capacity, and alkaline phosphatase were determined.
The results of this study were examined and analyzed by conventional statistical methods and showed that serum aluminium was higher in chronic renal failure patient as compared to normal healthy control group and a significant difference between serum aluminium in patient and control group was found.
