Abstract
The patients with tachyarrhythmias presented to the C.C.U. were associated with different aetiologies of cardiac diseases*
Tachyarrhythmias presented in this study were S.V.T., S.V.T. with conduction defect, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation-
The aim of this thesis is to study the effect of direct current shock in management of these tachyarrhythmias.
The material of this work comprised the reviewing of the records of 30 patients with tachyarrhithmias with different aetiologies of cardiac diseases presented to the Coronary Care Unit of Alexandria University Main Hospital. The results of thin study are summarized as follows:
1. The patients were 19 males (63%) and 11 females (37S5).
2. The mean age of patients was 43 years. The mean age of
the male patinnte was 47 years and that of the females
was 37 years.
3. The most common arrhythmia in the study was the S.V.T.
(27?5) then the ventricular tachycardia (20%) and
ventricular fibrillation (2025).
