Abstract The work in this thesis aimed to study the feasibility of using terpolymer emulsion based on glycidyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate and styrene as crosslinking agent for cotton fabric. Superior properties such as antimicrobial, ultraviolet protection and pronounced dye uptake could be added to cotton fabric via using finishing bath containing chitosan as biopolymer and the suggested terpolymer emulsion latex. The data of the work is summarized in three main parts:- 1- The optimum conditions for cotton finishing with finishing bath containing chitosan and the terpolymer emulsion. a- Increasing the alkali concentration used for the pretreatment of cotton fabric before the finishing process is significantly increases the fabric performance such as N%, add-on, tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (E%), abrasion resistance (AR) and air permeability while the fabric stiffness increases. b- Addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG) to the finishing bath formulation is accompanied by improving the fabric stiffness. Increasing PEG. |
