Abstract This study was conducted on 100 patients with suspicion of cholinergic insecticide poisoning admitted to MPCC in the period from 1st July to 31 December 2002.The aim of this study is to estimate the role of pseudo cholinesterase level, estimate role of TLC both in diagnosis of cases of insecticide poisoning admitted to MPCC. And to study the mode of poisoning in these cases.Patient’s sheet was designed including: Age, sex, residence, marital status, occupation, Circumstances of poisoning First aid done at which place Transportation Accompaniment Time of arrival Time of exam from arrival at hospital Past history of similar conditions Clinical picture either muscarinic, nicotinic or C.N.S and the degree of severity of the poisoning and the investigations which were done for every patient, i.e. TLC, pseudocholinesterase level before and after treatment in different biological fluids (Blood, urine and gastric contents). The methods used in this study were done toxicology laboratory in MPCC either for TLC or kits for pseudocholinesterase and the patients enclosed in this study were free from any chronic illness e.g.liver and kidney. |
