Abstract
Identification is the recognition of an individual whether dead or alive by certain characters and features, which differentiate him from all other persons.Identification of a person is one of the primary goals of any medic-legal investigation . Identification could be complete [total] or incomplete [partial].<..Age is a primary characteristic in identification and its estimation in both infants and adults is of great importance . the exact age is very important for many purposes e.g. in immigration , marriage , full civil responsibility , elections , criminal responsibility , judicial punishment , kidnapping rape , infanticide and abortion , etc.Determination of age is also asked for in suspicious deaths and in mass disaster .Estimation of age could be known from the appearance of ossific centers , teeth eruption , union of epiphyses, closure of cranial sutures and medullary cavity changes. In early childhood and adolescence , fusion of the epiphyses of various bones provides an Excellent indication of age .Growth and fusion of epiphyses is influnced by many factors e.g. environmental , racial , genetic, nutritional, endocrinal and ethnic factors .The aim of this study is to compare union of the epiphysis of bones of the wrist and hand regions on both sides among adolescents of both sexes in menoufyia governorate.
