Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases were shown in many studies to be one of the most common of morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic renal failure. Atherosclcrosis is one of the most important cardiovascular diseases, which may involve coronary, peripheral or cerebral arteries.
Studying the nature of atherosclerosis demonstrates that atherosclerosis is manly an inflammatory discase, and inflammation can initiate and worse the progress of atherosclerosis.
Many recent studies demonstrate that measuring of inflammatory markers may be helpful to estimate the level of chronic inflammation which is related to the level atherosclerosis.
Recent studies showed that the level of CPR which is one of the acute phase reactant, measured by quantitative high sensitive methods is an important and sensitive marker of inflammation. CRP is synthesized in the liver under regulation by different cytokines, particularly interleukin-6 .
Also this study aims to estimate C-reactive protein (CRP) & interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the serum of patients with chronic renal failure (CRF), and to study their relation to the traditional risk factors of atherosclerosis in these patients in Menoufiya university hospitals.
