Abstract This study deails to evaluate the functional activity of protein C and protein S and to make a comparative study with liver function tests in patients with viral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis . The liver parenchymal cell is the primary site for synthesis of most of the identified coagulation factors, many of the component of fibrinolytic system, and several of the important coagulatory proteins in plasma for the coagulation and fibrinolytic system. The various haemostatic disorders associated with liver cirrhosis and viral hepatitis may be explained by impaired synthesis of coagulation factors and/or their consumption in disseminated intravascular coag u lopathy. The aim of this work is to evaluate the functional activity of PC and its co-factor PS and to make a comparative study with liver function tests in patients with viral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. The study was conducted on 15 patients with viral hepatitis, 15 patients with liver cirrhosis and 20 age-and sex—matched healthy individuals as a control group. Patients selected from the inpatient and outpatient of medicine Department of Menoufia university hospital and liver institute. |
