Abstract

from the study we conclude that:The study included 32 patients, suffering from symptoms of chronic sinusitis, the imaging for paranasal sinuses starting by plain radiographs, and ending by axial, coronal CT .The preoperative interpretation of both axial, coronal cuts of CT scan of the paranasal sinus is of outmost importance in order to avoid intra-operative complications and recurrence of disease. Complications of sinusitis confirmed by CT which is conducted in both axial and coronal planes following the administration of intravenous contrast. Coronal CT screening of the sinus can recognize the five major pattern of inflammation within the paranasal sinus and nose :- 1- Infundibular< 2- Ostiomeatal unit (OMU). 3- Sphenoethmoidal recess (SER) 4- Sinonasal polyposis. 5- The sporadic pattern of inflammatory sinonasal diseaseCoronal CT is also useful in wide spectrum of other sinus lesions such as congenital or developmental abnormalities. CT scan before FESS is mandatory to identify the patients ethmoid anatomy and it’s relationship to the skull base and orbit CT scanning also allows the extent of the disease to be defined.
