Abstract In this study we selected 50 patients suffering from various chronic liver diseases. They were classified into 3 groups. Group I (n 21) with hepatoceilular carcinoma, group (n 17) with liver cirrhosis and group Iii (n= 12) with chronic viral hepatitis. Twenty normal healthy individuals with matched age and sex were tested as a control group. All patients and control groups were subjected to the following investigations: 1) Complete blood count including platelets. 2) Liver function tests including total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyl transferases, total protein and albumin. 3) Prothrombin time and concentration, and activated partial thromboplastin time by coagulation method. 4) Viral hepatitis marker including HBsAg and HCV antibodies by ELISA method. 5) Measurement of serum aipha-fetoprotein by ELISA method. 6) Measurement ot immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M by nephelornetric method. |
