Abstract The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Althesin aa a total intravenous anaesthetic agent in laryngeal endoscopy with special regards to the infusion rate, total dose received ”by the patient and its effects on the cardiovascular, respiratory system, recovery and adverse reactions were recorded after pre-medication, after induction, operative and in the immediate postoperative period. Arterial blood gases and pH were measured preoperatlvely, after induction of anaesthesia and postoperatively for patients of group I The study included 20 patients, their ages ranged between 17-73 years, submitted for direct laryngoscopy and biopsy. The patients were selected in a good general condition with no systemic diseases, Pre-operative clinical examination and routine laboratory investigations were done for all the patients.
