Abstract Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are one of the most effec¬tive methods of birth, control offered by national Family ’ Planning Programs. There are many methods to improve the clinical performance of an IUD and to limit ite side effects, One of these methods is measuring the dimensions of the uterine cavity to fit an IUD of a comparable size. * A positive relationship has been found between the uterine size and the incidence of IUD complications » In the present work, assessment of the relationship between the size of the endonietrial cavity measured by using the Wing Sound II device and the clinical perfor¬mance of the Lippes loop size ”C”, was carried out in one hundred women attending the Family Planning Out-patient clinic in the Shatby Maternity Hospital from the period starting from October 198^ until the end of follow-up period (12 months) at March 1984 .
