Abstract

• Liver transplantation had received a high success rate and considered the treatment of a choice for many end-stage liver diseases. And it is the second only to the kidney as the most commonly transplanted solid organ.
• Segmental classification of the liver facilitate the chance of partial liver transplantation as living donor liver transplantation which further relieve the organ shortage and reduce the waiting time before transplantation which in turn decrease the mortality rate.
• Improvement in organ preservation, surgical technique, and immunosuppressive regimen had resulted in increased survival rates for liver transplantation recipients.
• However many postoperative complications could occur which contribute significantly to mortality and morbidity of liver transplant recipients. These complications could occur so early within 3 days after the operation or late after 3 months or even a year later.
• Postoperative complications could be vascular which is the most important and considered the major cause of mortality and morbidity after liver transplantation, they could be arterial or venous {stenosis , thrombosis , and pseudoaneurysm } . Non-vascular complications which are less serious including { biliary lead or stricture, fluid collection , graft rejection , abscess and recurrent disease } .
