Abstract
The procedure of soft tissue augmentation entails the placement of filler materials into the skin to replace a deficient dermal or subcutaneous component, thereby restoring the natural look of the skin.
Soft tissue augmentation can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions like facial wrinkles, acne scars, lipo-atrophy, or for lip or cheek augmentation.
Different filler materials are available. They are either absorbable like collagens, hyalans and autologous fat, or non-absorbable like silicone, calcium hydroxylapatite and polymetheylmethacrylate.
