Abstract The present study was conducted to investigate the educational potential of the Egyptian mass media with respect to oral health by analyzing the quantity and quality of oral health information presented by a sample from these media. The sample comprised sixty issues of each of the two most widely circulating daily newspapers (“AL Ahram” and “AL Akhbar”), in addition to nine issues of each of two of the most widely distributed weekly magazines (“October” and “Akher-Saa”). This represents a study period of two months. The same period was used to study the television (including two channels: “ Cairo Channel I “: 1The Egyptian official channel I” and “Alexandria Channel 5”), and also the radio (including two stations: “AL Shark AL Awsat” and “Alexandria station’). The studied sample was analyzed to determine the quantity of planned oral health information presentation in particular in the three media. The educational and non educational topics related to oral health were determined. Furthermore, the different oral health topics discussed in the media were determined.
