Abstract

A total of 120 Nile tilapia fish were collected from the River Nile at industrial localities in Helwan, El-Maasara, Shoubra El-Khima and Ismailia canal at Mustord, the water samples were collected from each field.
Screening of the levels of metals in water samples at different localities at River Nile and Ismailia canal revealed that the mean values of load were zero, 2.25, o.11 and 0.099 in Mustord, Helwan, Maasara and Shoubra El-Khima. The mean levels of mercury, 0.051, zero, 0.12 and 0013. The mean values of cadmium at the localities were zero, zero, 0.012, 0.032, respectively.
Determination of the residues of metals in Oreochromis niloticus fish collected from Ismailia canal at Mustord and from River Nile at Helwan, Maasara and Shubra El-Khima revealed that the mean values of lead in fish at Mustord were 1.59, 0.9, 1.19 and 1.02 in liver, muscles, kidney and spleen, respectively.
At Helwan the mean values of lead were 1.61, 0.33, 1.025 and 1.13, while at Maasara were 1.32, 0.62, 1.72 and 0.9 in the four mentioned tissues.
At Shubra El-Khima the mean values of lead were 2.76, 0.86, 1.74 and 2.51 in liver, muscles kidney and spleen, respectively.
The mean values of mercury at the same localities and the same tissues in lead were mustord 2.8, 1.61, 1.96 and 1.459, Helwan 0.24, 0.11, 0.23 and 0.5, Maasara 0.77, 0.28, 0.65 and 0.45 and in Shubra El-Khima 0.48, 0.21, 0.55 and 0.43, respectively.
