Abstract
The present study was conducted during two consecutive seasons of 1995 /1996 and 1996/1997 at the horticultural station orchard of seds , beni-suef governorate on 12- years old trees of four sweet orange cultivars (citrus sinensis) namely leogom-gong , Valencia , harth of florida and white khalily. The target was to throw some light on growth, blooming, fruit setting,productivity and quality behaviour of these orange cultivars grown under beni-suef governorate region.
Trees of all orange cultivars were budded on sour orange (citrus aurantium) root-stock and planted at 5×5 meters apart. The soil texture of the tested orchard was silty clay loam with a water table depth not less than two meters. The selected trees of all orange cvs were nearly uniform in vigour and healthy as possible.
Four treatments consisted of the four tested orange cvs namely leogom-gong , Valencia , harth of florida (as late in maturity orange cvs) and white khality (as medium in maturity orange cvs)were included.
