Abstract This investigation was carried out in El-Mattana Research Station, Quena Governorate during the two seasons of 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 including two plant crops and one first ratoon crop in 2006/2007 season to study the effect of varieties , seeding rates , nitrogen fertilization levels and their interactions on growth, yield and yield components as well as quality for two plant crops and first ratoon crop of sugarcane. The experimental design was a split – split plot with four replications. Each plot contains five rows, the length of each row is seven meters. Cane yield (ton/fed.) was significantly affected by seeding rates at the harvest in the first plant crop only. The highest values were obtained from planting at 28 cuttings/row which gave 66.61 ton/fed., however, the lowest yield was obtained from planting at 21 cuttings/row. Sugar yield (ton/fed.) was significantly affected by seeding rates at the harvest in the first plant crop and first ratoon crop for 1st plant crop only. The highest of sugar yeild were obtained from planting at 28 cuttings/row, which gave 7.73 and 8.08 ton/fed. for first plant crop and first ratoon crop, respectively. However, the lowest cane yield was obtained from planting at 21 cuttings/row |
