Abstract

the present investigation was planned to study the causal organisms of wheat root rot diseas in ” Minia Governorate. Also, to gain information on the potential threat of the wheat root rot pathogens to domestic wheat production under Minia condition. The obtained results could be summarized as follows:
- Eleven isolates of four fungal species belonging 3 genera e.g. 2 isolates of
Drechslera halodes (Drechsler), 3 isolates of Fusarium equiseti (corda), 3 isolates of
F. solani (mart) and 3 isolates ot rhizoctonia spp. were secured from rotted wheat
roots and considered as wheat root rot-inducing fungi in Minia.
- Fusarium isolates were the most frequently isolated fungi.
D. halodes isolates were most virulent as compared to others while, Rhizoctonia
isolates provided least virulent.
Respone of wheat plants to infection by the obtained wheat root rot pathogens
varied significantly with fungal isolates and wheat cultivars. Of the 14 wheat cultivars, three cvs. were provided high susceptibility e.g. Sids-l, Sids-3 and Sakha69ha
- Wheat cv. Giza 160 was superior to resist fungal infection under all cercumstances
- - Wheat cv. Sakha-8 reacted as high susceptible to D. halodes infection but it reacted as moderate resistant to F equiseti infection.
