Abstract Since type 2 diabetes in youth has become increasingly common over the last decade and has been described as an ‘emerging epidemic’ in some populations . the aimed of the present study was to delineate the real magnitude of this phenomenon in our area, the risk factors associated with this disease as well as some of its clinical, metabolic and immunologic peculiarities. The present study included all patients, aged frome 10 to 19 years presented to the diabetes clinic of the Alexandria health insurance during the year 2000 (n=136) as well as all diabetic patients , aged from 10to 19 years , presented to the clinic during the year 2004 (n=140). The total number of studied patients was 276 patients. |
