Abstract

This study was done for the assessment of pulsed tissue Doppler
imaging during low dose Dobutamine stress echocardiography as a
quantitative measure for detection of regional myocardial viability. In our
study, patients were selected from patients referred to our cardiology
department, Zagazig University Hospitals during the period between
august 2003 to august 2004.
This study included 60 individuals, 50 of them suffering from
ischemic systolic dysfunction and 10 normal subjects as a control. They
were classified according to the functional recovery into:
I-Group I: Ischemic group include 50 patients suffering from ischemic
heart disease with EF :s 50 % which subdivided according to functional
recovery (improvement of EF > 10% after revascularization) into;
• Subgroup A: the viable group; and there number were 39 patients .
• Subgroup B: the non viable group; and there number were 11
patients.
The ischemic group included 46 male (92 %) and 4 female (8 %) with
mean age of 51.18 ± 7.16 years.
