Abstract The habit of Khat chewing is widespread in Yemen and certain areas of East Africa for centuries; and it is believed to cause a variety of GIT disturbances. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Khat chewing habit on upper GIT using endoscopic and histo-pathological examination. Sixty patients where included all of them were suffered from upper GIT symptoms devided into two groups chronic Khat chewers and non-Khat chewrs as control. All subjects were submitted for detailed history taking and clinical examination, CBC, abdominal ultrasonography, upper GIT endoscopy and histopathological examination. |
