Abstract Diabetes mellitus is the most prevalent endocrinal disease and its complications can affect most of the body organs and structures. Vascular complications is a common finding in diabetics affecting the quality of life of the patient. Many factors play a role in the increased incidence of vascular affection in diabetics. In this study we tried to evaluate the role of serum uric acid level in complicated non-insulin dependant diabetics. The present work included 50 non insulin dependant diabetic patients classified into: 1- Ischaemic group. 2- Hypertensive group. 3- Diabetic foot group. This stufy also comprised 16 healthy subjects both age and sex matchod with the patients. Full history was taken from each participant. They were submitted to through clinical examination, including fundus examination. All patients and controls were subjected to the following investigations: - Blood urea and creatinine. - Lipogram. - Serum uric acid. - Glycosylated haemoglobin. - Electrocardiography (ECG). - Doppler studies of the foot vasculature. |
