Abstract The M. pneumonia is a well recognized respiratory in children and adults. It is worldwide especially in temperate climates. Its transmission needs extensive exposure to infection, so infections are endemic in densely populated areas. M. pneumonia infection has a characteristic cyclic epidemics occurring every 3 to 5 years. In addition, M. pneumonia infection is common among school children and young adults and rarely occurs among the two extremes of age. Clinically, M. pneumonia infection is mild in nature and may pass unnoticed. However, mycoplasmal pneumonia can produce severe pulmonary involvement in addition to many extrapulmonary manifistations. M. pneumonia organism is a highly pleomorphic organism, lacking a cell wall. |
