Abstract This study included 40 patients of both sexes (24 males and 16 females) ranging in age from 12 months to 60 years with acute leukemia (AL) (myeloid and lymphoid). All the patients were attending clinical pathology laboratory, Assiut University Hospital. All cases were subjected to full clinical history, through clinical examination and laboratory investigations including complete hemogram, bone marrow aspiration, morphological and cytochemical staining of peripheral blood and bone marrow smears (myeloperoxidase, Sudan black B and periodic acid-Schiff). Special investigations included an immunological study by immumoenzymatic method using alkaline phosphatase-anti-alkaline phosphatase (APAAP) technique to determine types of acute leukemia (myeloid and lymphoid) and identify lymphoblast phenotype by the following monoclonal antibodies: CD3,CD7,CD10,CD13, CD33,CD19,CD22, and HLA-DR. |
