Abstract

This work aimed at identificating the risk factors of nosocomial pneumonia in the ICU, the common causative organisms of nosocomial pneumonia and chet infection, the effective antimicrobial treatment and the resistant strains to the commonly used antimicrobial agents.
1- The present study has demonstrated that the most common nosocomial infection in El-Minia ICU is pneumonia and the most common organism is Kl, pneumoniae (that most probably could be an outbreak of klebseilla infection) and the 2nd organism is staphylococcus ayreus. 2- These organisms are highly resistant to most of antibiotics used. 3- Mechanical ventilation is the most important risk factor.
