Abstract The study was carried out in Ophthalmology Department and Microbiology Department, Zagazig University in the period from December 1999 to February 2003 through the Outpatient Clinic and Inpatient Department, the study included 136 patients with 140 diseased eyes. The patients were selected according to criteria of selection which included: old age, diabetic patients, immuno-compromised patients, patient with resistant corneal ulcers and patient received vegetable trauma. Clinical diagnosis was carried out through slit lamp examination, Laboratory diagnosis was carried out through taking corneal specimens which were subjected to direct microscopic examination using gram staining and culture of the specimen were applied. Antifungal susceptibility test was applied usmg agar dilution method. Treatment of cases using different antifungal agents which were: Povidone Iodine 4%. Ketoconazole 20 mg/ml and 40 mg/ml. Fluconazole 2 mg/ml. Amphotericin B 0.5 mg/ml. Beside these antifungal drugs, atropine eye drops and local antibiotic drops were used. The results revealed: |
