Abstract
Aim of the work: to examine the relation between plasma level of homocysteine and the synthesis and secretion of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in healthy subjects and in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) or peripheral vascular disease (PVD). This will be accomplished by measuring plasma homocysteine, VEGF in the plasma, and VEGF mRNA expression by RT-PCR of total RNA obtained from blood of patients with PVD or DM.
