From the forty patients, twenty as well as the control group received active vitamin D3 0.5 g daily for one month. The remaining twenty patients received only their usual therapy. IL-10, IL-4, serum calcium and detection of asthma severity were done before and after the treatment in studied groups. The results of this study showed; •Significant rise was noticed in the number of severe cases after treatment among group B (patients didn’t receive active vitamin D3) in comparison to group A (patients received active vitamin D3) with P < 0.05. •Significant decrease in severity score after treatment in group A in comparison to group B with P < 0.05•Significant increase in serum calcium after treatment in groups A, C versus group B with P < 0.05. •Comparing bronchial asthma degree of severity, as severity increases, there is significant decrease in IL-10 and significant increase in IL-4 among group A. •Highly significant increase in IL-10 after active vitamin D3 administration in group A in comparison to groups B, C with P < 0.01. |
