In this essay, we tried to study new methods in the treatment of varicose veins, which became represent more than 20% of disease allover the world.
A brief review of anatomy of veins of lower limb and the most common variations that may help in good choice of treatment for every case was discussed.
Also, discussion of the pathophysiology and etiology of varicose veins was done.
A)Primary varicose veins which has predisposing factors as:
1-Congenital incompetence of the valve due to weakness or absence followed by varicosities.
2-Congenital weak vein wall allowing varicosities followed by valve incompetence.
And there is a precipitating factors which differs from person to person as:-
Pregnancy, obesity and prolonged standing.
B) Secondary varicose caused by:
1-Deep venous thrombosis with chronic venous insufficiency.
2-Deep vein compression by tumors in pelvis or abdomen.
3-Arterio venous fistula.
Also we took about new methods for diagnosis of varicose vein as:
•Duplex.
•Venography of varicography.
And examination of the deep system by duplex and descending phlebography.
And also studying surgical treatment of varicose veins, foam injection sclerotherapy and this method will replace surgical interference.
And also talking about of varicose veins, endovenous laser ablation and radiofrequency ablation which have been recently alternative minimally invasive, painless, bloodless, cosmetic and quick procedures.
To reach our aim in treatment of any case is good choice of optimal case to treated with best method of treatment to achieve best results with best cosmetic appearance and least complications
