Abstract
Benign breast diseases include a wide range of morphologic entities found in the non-cancerous breast.
Women diagnosed with benign breast lesions have an increased risk of subsequently developing breast cancer compared with those who have not been so diagnosed.
We summarized these benign breast lesions and their associated risk of developing breast cancer.
We had discussed factors modifying breast cancer risk in women with biopsy-confirmed benign breast disease including the presence of a family history of breast cancer, the duration free from breast cancer after benign breast biopsy (time since biopsy) and the patient’s menopausal status.
