Abstract The management of breast carcinoma has changed dramatically by the end of the last century. Thus, we observe obviously that the strategy of breast cancer surgery has evolved from radicality to conservative attitude. The radicality was in the form of radical mastectomy , while the other extreme is represented by breast conservative surgery as lumpectomy or wide local excision etc, followed by radiation therapy . On the same track was the swift in dealing with the axilla ,which was formerly dealt with by complete axillary lymph nodes dissection, to lately performing sentinel lymph node biopsy. |
