Abstract

In the present work, the effect of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Nutrients at different levels, and their combinations, on the growth and enssential oil productivity of basil plant, as well as Carbohydrate contents, soluble and insoluble Nitrogen forms, Phosphorus and Potassium contents, are investigated. The results obtained show that increasing Nitrogen level around the roots up to 60 or 90 kg N/feddan (N3 and N4 levels) induces the best growth of basil plants expressed as plant hight, number of branches and tops dry weights as well as oil percentage. No variable differences are obtained between N3 and N4 levels.
