Abstract

The treatment of incomplete abortion, consumes a significant and disproportionate amount of gynecologic hospital resources worldwide. The reasons for this are many, and relate both to the factors that elevate incidence of incomplete abortion and the factors that make current care inefficient. Improving incomplete abortion services, by making them more accessible and cost effective & linking them to contraceptive services, is a key component of improving family-planning services overall Traditional management of incomplete abortion has recommended in patient management and uterine evacuation. This practice was not based on results of randomized controlled trials. This lack of evidence on how to best manage incomplete abortion has resulted in some recent reviews of the literature in an attempt to make the management of incomplete abortion more scientific. In low income countries there is an even greater imperative to find simpler methods of management.
