Abstract According to clark and gohar 1953 the red sea was originally formed from a gulf in the mediterranean sea that became repeatedly separated from and rejoined with the parent sea and subsequently increasing in width and depth after many thousands of years the red sea became connected with both the mediterranean sea and indian ocean during the pliocene period the natural connection with the mediterranean sea was lost towards the end of the pleistocene period but its connection with the indian ocean persted to the present time. |
