Abstract The present study was conducted to: 1- Determine the proper time of pollination after female spathe cracking which results in appropriate fruit set, yield and improved fruit quality. 2- Evaluate the effect of different males on fruit setting, yield and fruit quality. 3- Furthemore, an in vitro determination of pollen viability and germination as well as some morphology of five date pollinators were performed in an attempt to provide an easy tool to select highly potent male palms to raise standard male varieties. Such practice might be performed despite the declining supply of skilled workers as well as essential and great importance for palm growers. |
