Abstract
The objective of this work is to study the metabolizable energy for duck first part of this work is carried out at the poultry research station, animal production department, agriculture, ain shams university. In this part two trials are conducted t namely, the determination of the metabolizable energy of some foodstuffs using the pekin duck and the formulation of pracTical rations using the new values of me for pekin ducks. The second part is carried out at the station de recherches avicole, institute national de la recherche agronomique inra, france. In this part, four trials are conducted to compare the muscovy ducKlings with broiler chickens in the following items: 1) the quantity of excreta output at different time intervals. 2) the endogenous energy losses (corrected and uncorrected to nitrogen equilibrium). 3) the values of ame, ame, tme and tme obtained from baSal diet and some test diets. 4) the ability to metabolize the high fiber diet.
