Abstract
Open polinated seeds of certain individual plants from the local variety balady population (So generation), and open as well as selfed of their opposItes, progenins are taken to establish the So, So, and S2 generations respectively. The family selection is applied on the basis of the means of three yield facets ; fruit yield, essential oil content and essential oil yield in 1968/ 69. The study includes only eight plant characters in 1970/ 71 season is extended to 14 characters in 1972/ 73 season. Results obtained reveal that there are no significant differences between the S2 generation and the control population as well as the subsequents, generation in the means of the three yield. The stability analysis reveals that geno typex environment interaction in fruit yield as well as essentical oil yield depends upon linearity. Crude fat shows positive significant association with some components that brings to pheno typic stability of the plant i.e. fruit yield, fruit index and number of orodes.
