Abstract The present work aims to contribute some of the necessary informations to achieve implementing successful pest control management for the purple and red scale insects in Egypt. This study includes the seasonal variations in insects population in relation to biotic and abiotic factors, the role of predators and parasites in reducing the population density of the scales. The appropriate time of insecticides application is determined. The bioresldual efficacy of certain scalicides against lepidosaphes beckii (Newmann) different stages and its hymenopterous parasite aphytis lepidosaphes is also evaluated. The susceptibility of l. Beckii (Newmann) nymphal stage to certain organophosphorus insecticides under laboratory conditions is studied. Finally, the residues of the three scalicides on and in orage fruits after different periods of application are chemically determined. |
