Abstract
This thesis amis to investigate the reactivity of dehydroacetic acid (i) as ( - pyrone towards amines, hydrazines, phosphorus pentachloride, active methylene comPounds and chalcones. Also the reactivity of arylidene dehydroacetic acids(( ( ( ) towards hydrazines and michael addition of active methylene compounds is studies. In addition, the reactivity of 1,2- dihydro - 6 - methyl - 2 - oxo - nicotinonitrile (xix) and ethyl 4,5 - dihydro 4 - oxo thieno (3,2-c) pyridine-6-cmboxylat 15 (xx) as 2 (ih) pyridines towards alkylation and a’ mination, is investigated. The reaction of grignard reagents on (xix) and the hydrazide (xxxii) of (xx) towards aldehydes and isocyanaTes, is considered.
