Abstract The thesis attempts to show that bellow mingles suffering with joy ,pessimism with survival of the self ,as his characters seek a balance betwen individuality and morw reaponsabilty . each of bwllows five novels,dangling man ,the victim , aeize the day , henderson the rain king and herzog represent a different king of attept to infuse fresh life into a clumsy , hard world.all the five novels ,with the exception of henderson the rain king ,are realistic . bwllows works explore the possibilitis of living the human in no human world.he searches in his fiction for ways to recover a civilization self ,assuming that ,for all that has gone wrong with our civilization, we can still learn within its context how to live decent , satisfying , realy human lives . this moral pattern is first sketched out in dangling man and most vitally realized in herzog i would like to take this opportunity to accknowledgo my gratitude and my spcial thank to brof.
