Abstract The treatment of lymphoedema still unsatisfying and have realy long-term successful results after any therapy. ~le’s operation is indicated in sever types and recurrance after other operations of lymphoedema. It suits the patients of tropical elephantiasis with diseased local skin. Thompson’s operation indicated in mild and moderate degrees of lymphoedema when the skin overlying is in a good condition. Micro-lymphatic surgery is preferred in cases of congenital Band Syndrome and secondary traumatic lymphoedema of extremities. Thompson’s operation and micro-lymphatic surgery are purely physiological operations. The result expected are improvement and not cure the limb must not be expected to be as good as a normal one. it is concluded that on the basis of our study that we consider Charle’s operation to be the operation of choice in patients with extensive lymphoedema of the limbs associated with skin changes. The Thompson’s procedure is a successfull operation for the treatment of moderate types of lymphoedema of the extermities. The micro-lymphatic surgery is indicated for congenital Band syndrome and secondary traumatic lymphoedema. the results are unsatisfactory and need further trials. |
