Abstract
Self-care at home for puerperal women is considered the mos t important factor that minimize the maternal mortality rate as well as providing good heal th s ta te. The women in this period have important responsibilities at home to pass this period safety. The good quality of the women’s care at this period is essen t ia1 to ensure her present as well as her future heal th. The aim of this study was to identify the knowledge and practice of Kuwaiti women toward their self-care during puerperium. A structured interviewing sheet was designed to collect the relevant data for this study. ”rh e candidate visited the women in the post-natal wards then at their homes after seven days from the first visit. A sample of 200 puerperal women was taken from six heal th regions of Kuwaiti province. The M.C.R. of each of El-Shuwaikh, Al-Farwania and AI-Jahra regions was chosen. Ale 0, AI-Adan hospital from AI-Adan region and the Materni ty hospital froin both Al-Mubarak and Al-Amiri regions were chosen. The data included the general characteristics of the samp le, knowledge and practice of the puerperal women and their actions toward ”EI-Hassad” and ”AI-Kabssa”.
