Abstract Eight sexually mature and clinically normal buffalo bulls, aged 3.5 years at the beginning of the experiment, were used to study the influence of dietary Zinc, sequence of ejaculation and month of the year on sexual behavior, scrotal circumference and some physico-chemical characteristics of buffalo-bull semen. The eight buffalo bulls under investigation were randomly allotted into two groups as follows: group NO. 1. Consisted of four buffalo bulls. Which were served as a control and didn’t received any support of Zinc, group No.2. Included four buffalo bulls. Which each bull was orally supplemented daily with 0.7 gm Zinc oxide, for a period of nine months. During semen collection, the sexual behavior of buffalo bulls was measured by recording the reaction time, scrotal circumference was recorded for each animals at fortnight intervals. Also a total number of 192 blood samples were collected at fortnight intervals throughout the experimental period for determination of Zinc concentration, A total number of 1568 observation were made on buffalo bulls during the experimental period. Two successive ejaculate were separately obtained from each buffalo-bull twice weekly. Each ejaculate was examined for semen volume, pH, mass motility, individual motility, live sperm pepcent, appearance of semen, sperm abnormalities, sperm concentration, sperm output and initial fructose concentration has been carried out in whole semen. Also blood samples was centrifuged for 15 minutes for separation of blood plasma for determination. |
