Abstract In this study we tried to introduce cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen for treatment of psoriasis. About 50 patients with small plaque psoriasis (1-5 cm2) attending the out patient clinic of dermatology and andrology Benha Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University. Application of cryotherapy occurred at one side of the patients and the other side was lefted as a control. Every patient was subjected to freezing time ranging from 9 to 15 seconds with average 13 seconds. Every patient received topical antiboitic after each cryotherapy session. Every patient followed up at weekly interval for 12 weeks and the percentage of resolution was calculated at the end of the study period. Thirty one patients showed complete resolution (100%), 9 patients showed moderate resolution (75-80%), 5 patients showed mild resolution and 5 patients sowed no resolution. The control side showed no change or worsening. The complication that appear during the study period was hypopigmentation to the thirty patients of thirty one patients of complete resolution. No atrophy or secondary bacterial infection were occurred. Conclusion: cryotherapy is effective in the treatment of small plaque psorasis. |
