Abstract Colorectal cancer was the third most common cancer diagnosed among men and women and the third leading cause of cancer mortality in 1999 in the United States (Kufe et al., 2003).Screening for colorectal cancer lessens the risk of dying from that disease. Knowledge of this fact has not solved all the problems related to screening. The optimal modality of screening is still the subject of debate (Richard and Sch wartz, 2004).The goal of screening for colorectal cancer is both the detection of early-stage adenocarcinomas and the detection and removal of adenomatous polyps, which are accepted as being potential precursors for colorectal cancer (0 ’Brien et al., 1990). |
