Abstract

Several surgical techniques have been proposed for the correction of presbyopia, but no method has proved fully effective.
When planning bilateral cataract surgery, surgeons can consider implanting IOLs designed for presbyopia. Among these lenses are multifocal, bifocal, and Pseudoaccommodating design. (153)
This study was done to evaluate near visual performance after implantation of a Pseudoaccommodating intraocular lens (IOL) (Crystalens AT-45) (C & C vision) and the Allergan Sensar AR40e foldable acrylic IOL as control after phacoemulsification surdery. Accommodative amplitude also was measured with both subjective and objective methods.
Also safety and tolerability of the implanted IOL was considered.
A 2 year prospective assessment of 100 phacoemulsification case performed by 2 expert surgeons in an eye specialized private hospital divided into 2 groups. Group (A) was implanted with Crystalens AT-45 IOL.
Fifty eye of 41 case (9 case had bilateral procedure and 32 case had unilateral procedure).
Thirty male and 8 female.
Twenty eight had undergone surgery in the right eye and 22 had undergone surgery in the left eye.
Ten cases were below 40 years old (24.4%), six patients were below 50 year old (14.6%), fifteen patients were below 60 year old (36.6%), eight patients were below 70 year old (19.5%) and two patients were below 80 year old (4.9%).
