Abstract
This study included 15 cases of cleft palate with or without cleft lip.These cases were admitted to the pediatric surgery and pediatrics departments,Tanta University Hospitals in the period between April 2000 and January 2001.The aim of this study was to evaluate the short-term clinico-pathological changes induced by presurgical use of prosthetic palatal plate in infants with cleft palate.The cases were divided in to two groups:1- The first group were subjected to the presurgical use ofprosthetic
palatalplate ( either permanently or only during feeding ) as early in,the patient’s life as possible.2- The second group were not subjected to presurgical orthopedic treatment.
